About us

Nordic Institute of Health Economics (NIHE) is a health economic research institute aiming to improve health systems by conducting in-depth research to support decision-making. We offer high-quality health economic research and counseling within both health economic and outcome research, market access and real-world evidence. We meet the needs of our clients without compromising our high academic and methodological standards. We collaborate with both public and private actors including the healthcare sector, clinical researchers, pharmaceutical companies, patient organizations, government agencies, ministries, and universities.

NIHE is an independent private limitied company founded in Aarhus in 2022, and is owned by Lars Holger Ehlers.

Lars Holger Ehlers

Managing Director

Lars is a former professor of health economics at Aalborg University, Ph.D. and MSc from Aarhus University. Lars has vast experience in research e.g. health economics, innovative treatments, chronic diseases and opportunities to improve organization of health services.

Lars Holger Ehlers

Morten Berg Jensen

Senior Researcher I Statistician

Morten holds a Msc and PhD in economics from Aarhus University and has extensive experience in econometric analyses as well as registry-based studies and discrete choice models. Furthermore, Morten is an associate professor at Aarhus University and a collaborative partner at Aalborg University.

Camilla Birch

Health Economist

Camilla holds a MSc in Medical Market Access, and a BSc in Medicine with Industrial Specialisation from Aalborg University. Camilla is skilled in health economic modeling and research, and is able to combine human physiology and medicine with economics and prioritisation in healthcare.

Nicoline W. Reinstrup

Junior Researcher

Nicoline holds a BSc in Public Health Sciences and is currently studying for her Master's degree in Public Health at Aarhus University. Her role in the NIHE is versatile, ranging from systematic literature searches to report writing and assisting the office.

Emma holds a BSc in Nursing and is currently studying for her Master’s degreee in Health Science at Aarhus University. Emma has experience as a qualified nurse and has a background in research, demonstrated through her bachelor's thesis, various research assignments, and a published article.

Eskild is a collaborator with NIHEand holds a MSc in Mathematical Economics from Aarhus University, and a PhD inBehavioral Economics and Health Economics from University of Southern Denmark.
